I provide counselling and psychotherapy in a quiet ground floor room. I work integratively with individuals for an agreed period of time either open ended or time limited. I work with adults and young people (17+).
During the Covid-19 outbreak sessions were held online and this continues to be available.
My role is to facilitate sessions in ways which respect your values, personal resources and capacity for choice. I provide a safe, confidential space and work within a clear therapeutic contract.
Over the the last two decades clients have brought many different issues to sessions some of which are included below:
Psychotherapy focuses on what you are struggling with and works to address the underlying reasons for these presenting issues. The aim is to help you make connections or gain an insight between your current difficulties, past experiences and the present - identifying these connections may help you to understand some of the reasons for your present difficulties and work through them and feel better. The sessions include skills, tools and strategy development in keeping with your values and beliefs. Part of the process involves relapse prevention with the aim of ensuring resilience and an ability to cope better in the future. Debbie works integratively and may draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytical, Person Centred and Humanistic Psychotherapy methods.
What is Transpersonal Psychotherapy?
The Transpersonal perspective embraces the concepts of a central core within each individual that is essentially “spiritual” in nature and that this nature seeks its most complete expression during each lifetime. This central core is the “Self” and the life journey represents “the individuation process”. The task of the Transpersonal Psychotherapist is to witness and evoke the energy of the self and its underlying ground, to firstly become fully human and also, where possible, to glimpse the transpersonal ground beneath our personal natures. It is a fundamental belief that it is in this experience that profound healing and inspiration is found. The therapy seeks to encourage an active and questioning enquiry into areas such as the unknown side of our minds, the psychology of relationships, the patterns of individuation and how to be mindfully present with thoughts, feelings and emotions.
