Biography:
I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and counsellor. I qualified with a Masters Degree in Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy (2004), a Master Practitioner in Practitioner Skills in Eating Disorders and Obesity (2001 and 2012) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (2003). I studied CBT with the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre (2007). I have attended and completed Continuous Professional Development (CPD) thorughout my professional career.
I began working with clients in 1999 and established my private practice in 2001. I worked
for the NHS Berkshire Eating Disorders Service (2002-2018) and worked as a Principal and Senior Clinican within the team. During that time I provided both individual and group supervision to
clinical staff in both adult and CAMHS transistion services. I
worked with The Cardinal Clinic, Windsor as a sessional worker and group facilitator. I continue to work with clients and provide clinical supervision
in my private practice. I have been a Network Practitioner for the National Centre for Eating Disorders since 2001.
I worked with the Bridge Pastoral Foundation on their 4 year Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and a group and workshop facilitator. I currently work with the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE) as an academic marker, workshop facilitator, and host an neurodiverse academic writing group.
Between 2010-2017, I was the Chair of Reading Therapies Group—a network of counsellors and psychotherapists in the Reading and surrounding Berkshire area. The committee actively promote the furtherance of good psychotherapeutic practice and arrange a programme of lectures and workshops to augment the professional development of its members. I was a committee member for 16 years. For all enquiries regarding the programme and joining membership please click here.
In 2011-15 I served on the UKCP HIPC Ethics and Complaints Committees and was a member of the Review Group for the Central Complaints Process.
In 2012, whilst on sebatical as the clinical lead, I presented a workshop on Eating Disorders and Apserger's correlation, assessment and treatment to 200 delegates from the NHS. Together with Colleagues, presented Assessment Skills at Prospect Park Hospital to GPs for a CPD event and later that year presented to Bracknell CMHT. More recently facilitated workshops on disabiity awareness focussing on neurodiversity issues in psychotherapy and eating disorders.
I am currently studying a PhD in professional practice at Canterbury Christ Church University looking at autism in psychotherapy (2019-present).
